Our blogging break started with some computer issues. We had a defective screen on our iMac and wanted to get it looked after before the warranty was up. In typical Dubai style our computer was out of our possession for 8 weeks - I can't tell you how much I missed it! I did get some sewing projects done - there are quite a few crafty women here in Dubai, we started having a regular craft morning and it has really gotten me motivated! Here are a few of the things that I have accomplished while I haven't been blogging....
Reversible Sun Hat for Allison
I used a pattern from this book: http://www.amazon.com/Oliver-Little-Things-Sew-Accessories/dp/1584799102/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340709586&sr=8-1&keywords=oliver+and+s
Owl Bookends

So one day I wanted to find some soft bookends that Allison could knock off without breaking a toe. I found similar ones online at pottery barn, and found a few people that had made their own - I couldn't find a very good pattern online so I combined a few. Allison loves them, and as I expected they get pulled off her dresser quite regularly!
Play Teepee
We saw one of these in a store here in Dubai with a big price tag - didn't seem so hard to make so Nicholas brushed up on his trigonometry and I went looking for supplies. I found this cute fabric at Ikea, and was very happy to find the wooden doweling at the Ace Hardware store (lumber isn't very common here in Dubai).
Felt Food

Fabric Dolls
I saw these on pinterest and fell in love. On the tutorial she sewed their hands together, but a friend of mine found some very tiny, strong magnets so their hands are magnetic. There will be hopefully more of these in the works.... (Tutorial & Pattern: http://charlaanne.typepad.com/charlaanne/2012/03/-doll-tutorial-.html)
Recovered a Cushion
We bought this bench here in Dubai, but it had the grossest gold raw silk cover on the cushion. After a year I finally found this great fabric for a bargain and couldn't wait to redo it.
Camera Bag

Hair Bows
Love them all, more after the summer?
ReplyDeleteI hope so! So many more things to make.....
